The Himiway D5 2.0 20" is the most accessible all-terrain fat-tire e-bike in the D5 lineup — engineered specifically for shorter riders, heavier riders, and anyone who wants a stable, confidence-inspiring mount that feels planted from the first pedal stroke.
A 750W hub motor with 90Nm of torque, full front-and-rear suspension, Maxxis 20×4" fat tires, and the HMW Assist System — including Auto Assist and switchable Torque/Cadence modes — deliver a ride that handles Northeast Ohio's mixed terrain as easily as it handles the daily commute. The MIK HD rear rack, integrated turn signals, and Tektro hydraulic brakes come standard.
The 20" wheel format drops the standover height to just 17 inches — low enough to step over comfortably with stiff joints, boots, or limited leg lift. The compact wheels also lower the center of gravity compared to every 26" D5 model, giving you more stability when stopping, turning, and navigating unpaved ground at low speed. This is the D5 for riders the other D5 models don't fit.
Himiway's proprietary smart assist system offers three ways to ride: Auto Assist reads terrain in real time and adjusts motor power automatically — no buttons, no management. Torque mode delivers power proportional to how hard you pedal, perfect for hills and trails. Cadence mode provides consistent steady power for flat rides and longer distance comfort. This combination is unique to the D5 2.0 series and is not available on the D5 (Zebra) or D5 Pro models.
Unlike the D5 (Zebra) which runs front suspension only, the D5 2.0 20" absorbs impacts from both wheels through a 100mm adjustable front fork and a 130mm multi-link rear shock. Real riders describe the difference as dramatic — roots, potholes, and gravel that would rattle a hardtail disappear. For riders with back, hip, or knee issues, this is the spec that changes everything.

Who this bike is for
- Are 4'11"–5'5" and have struggled to flat-foot a standard 26" fat tire e-bike at stops

- Are returning to cycling after years off and want a stable, forgiving platform to rebuild confidence
- Carry extra weight and want the lower center of gravity and 400 lb payload capacity

- Want Auto Assist ("set it and forget it" mode) so you don't think about gears or power levels
- Are 5'5" or taller with no mobility concerns — the Himiway D5 2.0 26" has the same motor and suspension with a larger wheel for faster rolling speed
- Primarily ride steep sustained hills daily — the D5 Pro's 130Nm mid-drive motor is more efficient on prolonged climbs
- Want the widest possible colour selection — the 20" comes in Space Grey, Midnight Blue, Nebula Mist, and Sage only

Frequently asked questions
Is the Himiway D5 2.0 20" a good fit for riding the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath and Stark County trails?
Yes — the D5 2.0 20" is well matched to the mixed-surface terrain common on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath and Stark County's rail trail network. The 20×4" Maxxis fat tires handle the packed limestone, grass edges, and occasional soft gravel sections with confidence, while the dual suspension absorbs the surface transitions between paved and unpaved sections. The 70-mile PAS range easily covers a full towpath day ride and back. The 17" standover height is particularly practical for the frequent stops at locks, access points, and road crossings along the trail.
What is the HMW Assist System and how is it different from standard pedal assist?
The HMW Assist System is Himiway's proprietary smart assist platform, exclusive to the D5 2.0 series. It offers three operating modes that standard PAS systems don't. Auto Assist reads terrain conditions in real time — detecting hills, flat ground, and descents — and adjusts motor power automatically without any input from you. Torque mode measures how hard you're actually pedaling and delivers motor power proportionally, giving a natural, responsive feel ideal for trails and hills. Cadence mode activates consistent motor power whenever you pedal, regardless of effort — ideal for flat cruising and longer comfortable rides. Standard e-bikes at this price point offer cadence-only systems. The D5 2.0's switchable sensor approach means one bike can serve trail riding, fitness, rehabilitation, and daily commuting without compromise.
