MY27 / 2027 • Interstellar Alloy J290 & Element Black J291

2027 Pinarello X3 Shimano 105 Di2 – DT Swiss A1800 X

The 2027 Pinarello X3 is the new-generation entry point into Pinarello's high-performance carbon endurance platform. Built from TorayCa T700 UD carbon and equipped with Shimano 105 Di2 2x12 and DT Swiss A1800 X wheels, it is engineered for riders who want a fast, responsive road bike without accepting the aggressive fit and uncompromising ride character of a pure race machine. MY27 is offered in Interstellar Alloy (J290) and Element Black (J291).

For MY27, Pinarello has reworked the X platform around a clear goal: preserve the direct, precise response expected from an Italian performance road bike while giving the rider more control, comfort and versatility over long hours. The result combines X-Stays 2.0, a new elliptical steering tube, integrated downtube storage, an adaptive seatpost with 10 mm longitudinal flex, and generous 40 mm tire clearance.

2027 X3 Highlights

X-Stays 2.0A revised four-point rear structure with lower attachment points that disperses road vibration and reduces rebound for greater control.
40 mm Tire ClearanceModern endurance versatility with room for higher-volume tubeless road and all-road tires.
Adaptive SeatpostA new, lighter seatpost engineered for approximately 10 mm of longitudinal flex to improve vibration absorption.
Carbon ChoiceThe X3 uses TorayCa T700 UD carbon, chosen to balance responsive performance, durability and road-vibration damping for long-distance riding.
Integrated StorageA dedicated downtube access port is designed to carry a compact puncture-repair tool bag inside the frame.
Shimano 105 Di2Fast, accurate 12-speed electronic shifting with dependable hydraulic disc braking and practical endurance gearing.

MY27 Color Options

Interstellar Alloy (J290)An iridescent alloy-grey finish with subtle pink reflections that shifts character as the light changes.
Element Black (J291)A deep, absolute black finish punctuated by refined gold graphics for a clean, understated premium look.
What changed for MY27? This is a new-generation X-Series chassis. Compared with the preceding X3, the MY27 platform adds X-Stays 2.0, the updated elliptical steering tube, integrated frame storage, the adaptive seatpost and increased tire clearance up to 40 mm while retaining Pinarello's proven endurance-oriented geometry philosophy.

X-Stays 2.0

Pinarello's distinctive double-arm rear structure evolves for the new X Series. The lower attachment point and refined four-point geometry are designed to spread road vibration more effectively through the frame instead of passing it directly to the rider. The lower linkage also reduces rebound from impacts, creating a calmer, more controlled ride over broken pavement without turning the X3 into a soft or disconnected endurance bike.

The important part is balance: the rear end is designed to absorb the high-frequency chatter that accumulates over long rides while preserving bottom-bracket response when you accelerate, climb out of the saddle or push the pace with a group.

Elliptical Steering Tube

The new X Series adopts Pinarello's latest elliptical steering-tube architecture with fully integrated front cable routing. Unlike the F-Series, the emphasis here is not maximum aerodynamic reduction; the design is used to improve torsional stiffness, steering precision and front-end stability.

That matters most on long descents, rough roads and high-speed corners, where a confident front end lets the rider stay relaxed and place the bike accurately rather than fight flex or nervous handling.

Integrated Storage Possibilities

A dedicated downtube access port gives the MY27 X3 practical storage inside the frame. Pinarello designed the compartment around a compact tool bag for puncture-repair essentials, allowing riders to carry critical roadside equipment without loading jersey pockets or adding an external saddle bag.

It is a particularly useful addition for long-distance riders: the bike retains a clean silhouette while keeping repair items on the bike every time you roll out.

Adaptive Seatpost – 10 mm Longitudinal Flex

The new adaptive seatpost is lighter and engineered to provide approximately 10 mm of longitudinal flex. Instead of relying only on larger tires for comfort, the X3 uses controlled movement at the saddle to reduce repeated impacts before they reach the rider.

Combined with X-Stays 2.0, the seatpost helps the X3 maintain an efficient pedaling platform while reducing fatigue on long rides and imperfect pavement.

Endurance Geometry + Up to 40 mm Tire Clearance

The new X Series retains Pinarello's established endurance philosophy: a higher, more accommodating front end and more compact reach than its competition-focused platforms, giving riders a sustainable position for long days without removing the sharp handling that makes a Pinarello feel distinctive.

Clearance increases to 40 mm, dramatically expanding setup options. Riders can choose fast road tires for smooth pavement, higher-volume tubeless tires for comfort and grip, or an all-road setup for rough backroads and light mixed-surface routes.

Carbon Choice

Pinarello assigns different carbon grades across the MY27 X family. The X9 and X7 use T900, the X5 and X3 use T700, and the X1 uses T600. T700 is chosen for the X3 because it preserves the responsiveness and structural performance expected from a premium road bike while offering greater capacity to absorb road vibration than the more competition-focused layup.

For the rider, that means the X3 can still feel energetic when accelerating and climbing, but is deliberately tuned to make long rides more enjoyable and less fatiguing.

Shimano 105 Di2: race-proven electronic shifting for endurance riding

The X3 uses Shimano 105 Di2 R7100-series 12-speed electronic shifting. The 2x12 system combines fast, consistent electronic gear changes with a practical 50/34T crankset and 11-34T cassette, giving the bike enough top-end for fast road riding while preserving low gearing for long or steep climbs.

Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes provide predictable stopping power and modulation in changing conditions. The result is a drivetrain that feels premium and precise but remains sensible for a bike intended to accumulate serious mileage.

DT Swiss A1800 X Wheels and 38 mm MOST Tires

The MY27 X3 is paired with DT Swiss A1800 X / A1800 30 DB aluminum wheels. They prioritize durability, serviceability and predictable handling, making them well suited to everyday training and endurance mileage. Pinarello's current X3 specification is shown with MOST Competition TLR 700x38 tires, taking advantage of the new frame's increased volume and clearance for grip and vibration control.

MOST e-TiCR Cockpit

The X3 uses a separate MOST Jaguar XA Aero e-TiCR aluminum handlebar and MOST Tiger Aero Alu e-TiCR stem. This configuration keeps the cables visually integrated through the front of the bike while retaining the fit flexibility and serviceability of a two-piece cockpit—particularly useful for endurance riders who may fine-tune reach, stack and bar position over time.

Who is the 2027 Pinarello X3 for?

  • Road cyclists who want Pinarello handling with a more sustainable endurance position.
  • Riders building toward centuries, gran fondos, long charity rides or multi-hour weekend routes.
  • Cyclists who value electronic shifting but prefer durable alloy wheels over a more expensive carbon-wheel build.
  • Riders dealing with imperfect pavement who want substantially more tire volume than a traditional race bike allows.
  • Performance-minded riders who want comfort engineered into the frame rather than achieved by making the bike feel slow or vague.
