Zipp 353 NSW: premium road wheels for the long way home

The Zipp 353 NSW WH-353-NSW-B1 is a premium 700c road wheelset with a 35/40 mm Sawtooth rim, 25 mm internal width, ZR1 SL hubs and integrated AXS Wheel Sensors. It is the NSW option to consider for an endurance-road build when a shallower profile and a wider road-tire platform are central to your plan.

What you are buying: A complete front-and-rear wheelset. Select the rear freehub: Shimano / SRAM HG Road or SRAM XDR. Manufacturer model: WH-353-NSW-B1.

Fitment first: Road use only: Zipp explicitly does not approve this B1 353 NSW for gravel. Use the specified compatible tires and follow the AXS Wheel Sensor installation and sealant procedure. Older 353 model guidance is not a substitute for B1 guidance.

Hookless setup: 5.0 bar wheel ceiling (approximately 72.5 psi). A lower tire- or size-specific limit may apply; a maximum is not a riding recommendation. Check current Zipp tire compatibility.

Give the whole road ride a place in the decision

A memorable road day is rarely one continuous sprint. There are climbs, conversations, rough sections and the extra loop you take because you still feel like riding. When that is your brief, it is reasonable to question whether the deepest wheel is the one you really want. Start with the tires, the route and the kind of build that will keep making sense after the first ride.

The B1 combines a 35/40 mm Sawtooth profile with ZR1 SL hybrid ceramic-bearing hubs and integrated pressure sensing. The AXS Wheel Sensors make pressure visible during the ride, adding useful information when the road or conditions change. Zipp optimizes the rim around 30 mm tires within its specified 29-35 mm range. This is a premium road setup built around more than rim depth alone.

Who should put this wheelset on the shortlist?

Choose the 353 NSW when a premium road build, wider road tires and pressure monitoring are your priorities. Choose a different wheel for a gravel brief. Compare the 202 NSW for a climbing-first approach and the 454 NSW for a deeper aero-road direction. Treat those as different answers to different riding plans.

Zipp 353 NSW vs 202 NSW vs 454 NSW

Begin with the 353 for the 25 mm-internal, sensor-equipped road platform. Begin with the 202 for a 35 mm climbing-focused brief, or the 454 for a 53/58 mm deeper-road profile. We recommend making that decision around use and tire selection before comparing weights, especially while the 202's published weight information remains inconsistent.

Compare with Zipp 202 NSW or Zipp 454 NSW.

Questions to answer before ordering

Can I use this 353 NSW for gravel?

No. The WH-353-NSW-B1 generation is not approved for gravel by Zipp. Some older 353 documentation describes different applications; do not apply it to this listing.

Does the 353 NSW include pressure sensors?

Yes. This B1 model includes Zipp AXS Wheel Sensors. Follow the current instructions for tire, tube, valve and sealant compatibility with that system.

Does the current 353 NSW use Cognition hubs?

This B1 listing uses ZR1 SL hubs with hybrid ceramic bearings. A listing that describes Cognition may refer to another generation, so compare exact manufacturer identifiers.

Can I reuse my existing narrow road tires?

Do not assume so. The checked model specification starts at 29 mm and requires suitable TSS-compatible construction. Send the exact tire name and size before planning the transfer.
