Princeton CarbonWorks - GRIT 4540 EVO - Disc Brake Wheelset

Introducing the Grit 4540 Evolution—new for 2024. This wheelset is feathery light, tough, and fast, delivering top-tier performance for both gravel and road racing. With a rim weight of just 385g and a 24mm internal width, it’s optimized for modern, wider tires. The hooked, hole-less tire bed ensures excellent responsiveness and durability.

130J impact resistance, 325% greater than the UCI minimum.

Available in all 10 of our standard colors and finishes with DT Swiss, Chris King, White Industries, and Tactic Racing hub options.

Designed and built around our patented Radially Staggered Lacing, which alternates rim depths between the drive and non-drive side spokes to even spoke tensions and bracing angles.

Reserved for those with Grit.

Princeton's Radially Staggered Lacing

Princeton’s Radially Staggered Lacing is an innovative wheel-building technique designed to optimize spoke tension and improve wheel performance. This method alternates the depth of the rim between the drive and non-drive side spokes. Here's how it works:

  • Drive-side spokes are attached to a deeper section of the rim, while non-drive side spokes are attached to a shallower section. This variation in rim depth helps to balance the tension between the two sides of the wheel.
  • Normally, the drive side (which transfers power) experiences higher tension due to the force from pedaling. By staggering the spoke lacing, the load is distributed more evenly between both sides, reducing stress on individual spokes and creating a more durable and efficient wheel.
  • It also helps to improve the wheel's bracing angles (the angles formed between the rim and the hub), contributing to better lateral stiffness and stability, which is essential for high-speed racing and off-road performance.
